Hello, guest

Q: "Palm Sunday [April 1/2007*] marks the beginning of Holy Week. Holy Week recounts a complex and meaningful series of mythic events which lead to the
Resurrection on Easter Day. Palm Sunday represents a preparation, a setting up, for the Resurrection to occur. As Gnostics we may differ from the mainstream in our interpretation of these events, as to whether they are literal history or strictly symbolic, or something in between. What is important for us to focus on is that these events recount an interior experience of achetypal dimensions."
[Gnostic Homilies, by Rev. Steven Marshall]

[*per Dr. J. Tabor's weblog: "the beginning of the 14th of Nisan". For Pagans it was All Fools' Day.]

"Remember my cross and my death, and you will live!"
"......those who have believed in my cross, theirs is the kingdom of God."
[The Apocryphon of James]

"Each mystic, original though he or she may be, yet owes much to the inherited acquirement of our spiritual ancestors.
...These ancestors form our tradition, are the classic examples on which our education is based..."

"The Good Friday ritual of the Ecclesia Gnostica contains ancient Gnostic teachings about the mysteries of the aeons, or the true psychological
foundation of our nature, and it is danced in a circle. Like all Gnostic teachings, it must be experienced to be at all understood. The image of the Cross is central to the mystery."
[The Gnostic Calendar: A Mandala of Wholeness]

Lauds: "At Daybreak the monks rose and prayed:
That we may be transfigured by the rising sun."

"On awakening, we who have placed ourselves at the service of consciousness recognize the dawn's early light as kin to the light that shines within us. As it grows brighter, it dissipates the darkness and our tendency to sleep. It's warmth beckons us to move forward into the morning and whatever it may bring."

A: On the subject of The Light...

THE TAO

Cross-eyed now
Is mind and matter
Tao's two
Towers together

Split is heart
Yours and mine
Tao's but
One divine

Pull the drapes
Take a pose
Consummate
As it goes

There is neither
Rate nor duty
Only light's
Emergent beauty

A: "I was sent forth from [the] power,
and I have come to those who reflect upon me,
and I have been found among those who seek after me...
.....For I am the first and the last.
I am the honored one and the scorned one.
I am the whore and the holy one...
.....But I, I am compassionate
and I am cruel...
.....Why have you hated me in your counsels?
For I shall be silent among those who are silent,
and I shall appear and speak...
.....I am the one whom you have pursued,
and I am the one whom you have seized...
.....I am the one before whom you have been ashamed,
and you have been shameless to me.
.....I am the one whom you have reflected upon,
and you have scorned me...
.....I am the one whom you have hidden from,
and you appear to me.
But whenever you hide yourselves,
I myself will appear...
.....and disgraceful passions,
and fleeting pleasures,
which men embrace until they become sober.....

A: Did the sun dance this Easter Morning? As a chorus of bird song greeted the morn the tears of heaven fell upon the nodding blooms of tulips, daffodils and plum in my yard. The clouds normally would have parted as the sun rose behind the mountain range in the East but this year it was different. All the elements were present earth, air, fire, water and spirit but somehow the magic was missing.Every year I watch the sun rise on Easter morning. It usually pulsates with images of the Lamb, the Lion and the Hourglass and all through the day even until sunset the visions appear on the face of the Sun.This year it was clouded but for a brief minute the clouds formed a face and the golden dawn shone through the features. The bird song was silenced then resumed much more noisely than earlier. All of nature rejoiced.
