Hello, guest
Name: bcdfischer  •  Title: Was Jesus Son of Joseph - Jesus's nephew??  •  Date posted: 03/05/07 5:49
Q: They said there was a Josa in the tumb. "Joseph", another son of Joseph and Mary, Jesus brother. Could it be that Josa had a son and named him Jesus and when he died he was burried in the family tumb?

I can see Jesus being married to Mary M. and having a child. Being married and having children was normal. That does not affect my belief of Jesus being Christ.

I just have a hard time knowing there were bones found of Jesus "Christ". When they went back to the tumb where Jesus was laid to rest, he was gone. When we read that we all believe his "body" had risen.

A: Could be. That was my thought too. If you can even accept that this is the family of Jesus, the Christian Messiah, and not another Jesus.

A: That scenario is possible. They are speculating that 'yose' is jesus's brother because the Bible records that name as his brother.

A: Was Joseph of Arimathea, the wealthy man who buried Jesus in his new tomb the great uncle of Jesus? Mary's mother was Anna; it is this Mary who gave birth to the man who became the Christ. Anna's younger brother was this Joseph of Arimathea. And to add to this possible confusion of family names & relationships, many of this family had the same names but differernt family relationships to each other as pointed out in this TV film & web site. So with this possible genealogies of related families & family names, all of this is possible.
Jesus was of the house of David; the tomb pictured in this TV presentation was that of a special family as was the tomb of Joseph of Arimathea (like the Garden Tomb). All of this we know.
I agree with the logic that the TV Jesus, son of Joseph may have been the nephew of Jesus, The Christ.. Not the Jesus, the man who suffered crucifixion and whose soul, spirit body appeared on the third day after his cruifixion.
Many first century Christians believed Jesus was only spirit and just appeared to be human & motal.
I believe this was true before The Christ soul/spirit ascended to Father, Mother, God. Then this soul became Jesus The Christ who is able to be in spirit, in physical body and/or in everything seen, unseen, created or not yet created. All of these at the same time!
This is great that all are able to express their beliefs in this forum; thank you Simcha & James Cameron & all of your crew.

I'd be careful not to state "we all believe" when referring to what his "body" actually was that the apostles and disciples perceived they saw as being actual flesh and blood and bones. I'm a follower of Jesus/Yeshua's teachings, and believe the "body" of the risen Christ that they saw and felt was really a transfigured "light body" that was manifested to look and feel like and resembled the physical body of the man they knew and loved as Jesus (the human vessel of the Christ), but it was the "light body" (a non-3-dimensional body) that was actually resurrected and ascended. That Jesus' bones were left behind in a tomb doesn't bother me in the slightest.

I think that if nothing else, this film/program has prompted discussion (if not further investigation into the tomb and its contents) that may open people's consciousness to let go of old, perhaps out-dated beliefs and embrace new, broader perceptions and understandings, which is wonderful for spiritual growth and the advancement (not downfall!) of Christianity. Amen! :-)
