Salome's husband, Joseph, was given to care for Mariamne and was told to kill her if Antony slew him (Harod).When Mariamne confronted Harod of those orders , when he returned, he turned on his friend and relative Joseph and had both put to death.

I read it and it is fascinating, and easy even for me to understand. I went out and bought that book the Jesus Dynasty , and will start when I am finished with "Walking the Bible" by Bruce Feiler, which has also been a great read.
