Jerusalem Bishop: Jesus Tomb Film Misleading

The auxiliary bishop of Jerusalem is calling the Jesus tomb film fallacious, cautioning Christians not to be deceived by the film’s findings.

Auxiliary Bishop Giacinto-Boulos Marcuzzo denounced the film, saying it has the capacity to create a sense of confusion among pious Christians. Marcuzzo sides with the dominant archaeological opinion that the names engraved on the ossuaries discovered in the first-century tomb were common names during the time of Jesus.

In addition, Marcuzzo criticizes the Jesus tomb experts for what he believes is a lack of recognition of the archaeological value of oral traditions in identifying important historical sites, which have established the tomb of Jesus as being located at the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.
